Shamsi Gorge

Admin 1 24.02.2024

Shamsi Gorge is a gorge in the eastern part of the Kyrgyz Mountains, above the city of Tokmok. It is characterized by forests and trees, as well as a low altitude above sea level.
There are many places for picnics and recreation in the gorge. Shamsi is home to the so-called “Shah’s House”, built for the Shah of Iran, who visited Kyrgyzstan in 1968. The gorge has a rich cultural history. For a long time, the Shamsi Pass and the gorge itself were the link between the Kochkor and Chui valleys. By the way, not far from the gorge is the famous Burana tower.
Today Shamsi Gorge is very popular as a connecting link of many tourist routes. From the gorge you can get to the valleys of Kochkor, Son-Kul, Konolchek and Boom.

How to get to Shamsi Gorge?
Shamsi Gorge is located 100 km east of Bishkek. There is no public transport to Shamsi. You can get to it by taxi or by private car. Entrance to the gorge is free.

Individual tours offered by Nomad Life are a great opportunity to make a route taking into account your wishes. Hiking, cycling, horseback riding, automobile, ethno-tours and, of course, tours combining two or more types of tourist activities are offered.
