Arabel Valley. Arabel Plateau is a plateau valley located at an altitude of 3800 meters. It is a wonderful place in the southern part of the Issyk-Kul region. It is located near the Barskoon Gorge and the gold mine Kumtor.

Alpine valleys (also called silts) are a rare and quite remarkable phenomenon, especially at this altitude. The average annual temperature here is only 5-7°C and the land is almost devoid of vegetation. Only grasses, mosses and lichens survive in such places. Due to abundant rainfall and melting glaciers, there is plenty of water in the valley. This water is used to create rivers, lakes and marshes. The Arabel Plateau is a unique alpine tundra area with more than 50 lakes.

The valley has such interesting landforms and numerous lakes due to very old glaciers. The glaciers flattened the valley and left many lake basins.

The Arabel valley has many tourist routes. The valley can be reached via the Barskoon and Dzuk valleys and the Arabel Pass, which leads to the Borgert River valley.
