The Equestrian Hippodrome in Cholpon-Ata

The Equestrian Hippodromein Cholpon-Ata.The equestrian arena in Cholpon Ata is located 270 km from Bishkek and covers 25 hectares. It is the only lakeside arena in Central Asia. The project is unique in that it is the first in Kyrgyzstan to be built in such a short time, is of national and international significance, and was built in accordance with all applicable norms and standards.

According to historical documents, ranch No. 54 of Leonid Rapoport was created in 1931-1933. on the site of the current naval equestrian stadium. Kyrgyz horses were bred here. These horses were famous throughout the Soviet Union for their endurance. Kyrgyz horses are suitable for mountain racing and work in the mountains.
Today there is the Cholpon-Ata hippodrome here. Horse racing is often held at this arena. Both local horses and tourists from Kazakhstan and Russia take part in the races. Concerts are also held.
In 2014, the hippodrome was restored. In the same year, the first World Nomad Congress was held at the hippodrome.
The World Nomad Games are international ethnic sports competitions. The games are historically based on the folk games of the nomadic peoples of Central Asia

in the competition – Azerbaijan, Austria, Afghanistan, Belarus, Brazil, Germany, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Mongolia, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, USA, Uzbekistan, France, Sweden and South Korea. Participated in the event.

A total of 771 sports officials took part in the event. Of these, 583 are athletes and 188 are coaches and judges. 230 horses took part in the equestrian competitions. 1,200 people took part in the cultural program. The television broadcast covered 40 countries with a potential audience of 230,000,000 people.
In 2016, at the opening ceremony of the second Nomad Games, 1,000 comrades sang one song. This record was included in the Guinness Book of Records. In connection with the II World Nomad Games, the hippodrome was moved to the city of Karakol. In its place a new hippodrome and sports complex were built. The new hippodrome in Cholpon-Ata received the Grand Prix at the competition of the International Union of Architects (IAAU), held in Minsk. The initial cost of the hippodrome construction project was 487 million soms, but subsequently exceeded 1.1 billion soms. The construction of a multifunctional hippodrome, built near Cholpon-Ata (the village of Baktuu-Doolonotu), was completed on the eve of the World Nomad Games, held in the Issyk-Kul region on September 3-8.
