Salt Lake. Also Dead Lake, Tuz-Köl and Kara-Köl is a small lake on the southern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul, known for the high salt content in the water and the healing mud on the shores and bottom of the lake. Due to its extremely high salinity, it can be compared to the Dead Sea in Israel and the Great Salt Lake in the US, but on a smaller scale. For example, one can relax in the water without any effort. Note that getting water in the eyes can be uncomfortable. The shores of the lake are covered with clay of various colors and sharp salt crystals that form when the water dries. The lake is very small with a shore length of 1.5 km and a depth of 11 meters. Although it is very small, it does not freeze in winter due to its high salinity.
The lake is very close to the shoreline of Issyk-Kul, about 400 meters. The area around the lake is very beautiful with dried dunes of red and white sand, a large bay and a panorama of the Terskey Ala To mountain range.
