Waterfalls in Kyrgyzstan. The power emanating from the waterfalls cannot be ignored. Perhaps that is why they are so attractive. More than 30 waterfalls have been recorded in Kyrgyzstan. Numerous rivers and streams of Kyrgyzstan abound with waterfalls, which not only give life-giving coolness in summer, but also surprise with their icy streams in winter. Below is a list of the largest waterfalls in Kyrgyzstan:
1. Waterfall“Tears of a Leopard”. Waterfall in the Barskoon gorge on the southern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul. Its height is more than 100 m, and you can reach it on foot through the gorge in 30 minutes. It will be a good addition to a sightseeing tour of Issyk-Kul.
2. Kegetinsky waterfall. The Kegetinsky waterfall is located 80 km from Bishkek in the Kegetinsky gorge (considered the most beautiful gorge in Kyrgyzstan). Its height is 30 m and reaches 2000 m above sea level. By the way, the road from the Kegeti Waterfall to the Burana minaret takes about 40 minutes by car. This is an ancient object inherited from the Great Silk Road. This is a little adventure for those who are interested in history.
3. Shaar Waterfall. A waterfall with an interesting name Shaar with a height of 3,200 m is located in the Bash-Kaindi gorge in the Naryn region. This is the largest waterfall in Central Asia, its height is about 300 m. Shaar Waterfall is so majestic that it can be seen from a distance of 45 km along the road leading to the waterfall. The nearest village is Bash Kaindi, 20 km away.
4. Waterfall “33 parrots” Waterfall “33 parrots” is located at an altitude of 2,600 m above sea level in Naryn district, near Lake Son-Kul (a picturesque alpine lake at the top of a gentle mountain pass). The height of the waterfall is about 30 m .
5. Waterfall “Tears of the virgin”. In the Jeti-Oguz gorge there is a waterfall called “Tears of the Virgin”. Its height is only 20 m, and it can be reached on foot in 40-50 minutes. This is a great place to visit, especially paired with a visit to the red rock “Broken Heart” in the Jeti-Oguz Gorge.
6. The Abshir-Atar Waterfall is located in the Abshir-Sai gorge in the Osh region. It is located 80 km from the city of Osh. The Abshir-Ata waterfall with a height of 12-15 m is also known as the “Milk Waterfall”, because people believe that the water from the waterfall is curative.
7. Arslanbob Waterfall. A large waterfall with a height of 80 m is located 8 km above the village of Arslanbob. A small waterfall with a height of 23 m is located near the Arslanbob walnut forest (the largest walnut forest created by nature). Near the Small Waterfall there is a Cave of 40 angels.
