Uzbekistan is a landlocked country located in Central Asia, bordered by Kazakhstan to the north, Kyrgyzstan to the northeast, Tajikistan to the southeast, Afghanistan to the south, and Turkmenistan to the southwest. It gained independence from the Soviet Union in 1991.

Tour itinerary

Arrival in Fergana/Namangan. Fergana/Namagan – Kokand (84 km, 1.5 hours).

Meeting at the airport and transfer to Kokand, overnight at the hotel from 14:00
Situated at the entrance to the fertile Fergana Valley, Kokand is an important point on the Great Silk Road and was part of the ancient state of Davan. In the 19th century, it was the capital of the Kokand Khanate (XVIII-XIX centuries), which had about 40 madrassas and more than 300 mosques.

Kokand (excursion). Kokand – Rishtan – Kokand (40+40 km). Rishtan (excursion).

Excursions around Kokand: Palace of Khudoyar Khan – “Kokand Horde”, the residence of the last ruler of the Kokand Khanate. Mausoleum of Madari Khan, decorated with intricate patterns and stalactites made of white ganch, built by order of the famous Uzbek poet Nadira; the Jami Mosque, famous for its magnificent columns made of “stone wood”, one of the most durable types of elm. The necropolis of Dakhma-i-Shakhon (Tomb of the Khan) is one of the main historical attractions of the city.
Transfer to Rishtan. Rishtan has long been famous for its beautiful glazed ceramics. The unique Rishtan blue ceramics are stunningly beautiful and are the most popular souvenir among tourists.
Visit a pottery workshop and get to know the potters and their work. Demonstration of pottery making.
Return to Kokand.

Kokand – Tashkent (240 km, 4 hours).

Travel to Tashkent through the picturesque Kamchik Pass (2285 m). The main flow of transport and passengers from the capital to the Fergana Valley passes through this pass.

Tashkent (excursion). Tashkent – Samarkand (330 km, 5 hours).

Tashkent (Old City) Excursion: Khast-Imam Square – the spiritual center of Tashkent, where the originals of the Koran of Usman and the hair of the Prophet Muhammad are kept. Barak Khan Madrasah, Kafal al-Shashi Mazar mausoleum is one of the oldest buildings in the capital. Let’s visit Chorsu – the most original and oldest bazaar in Tashkent. Here, under a huge dome, you can buy local delicacies, spices, handicrafts and souvenirs. In the old city you will see traditional oriental architecture, as well as old mahallas (residential streets) with adobe houses, narrow alleys and the authentic atmosphere of the old city of Tashkent.
Lunch at Besh Kozon, the famous pilaf center in Central Asia. Here, every day 10 tons of delicious pilaf are cooked in huge pots.
From Malakand, the capital of ancient Sogdiana, travel to Samarkand.

Samarkand (excursion).

Samarkand is the same age as Rome, one of the oldest cities in the world and was once the capital of the great empire of Tamerlane. Being the center of caravan trade on the Silk Road, Samarkand perfectly preserved the unique atmosphere of the Asian Middle Ages.
Sights of Samarkand: the most famous square in Central Asia – Registan Square – is surrounded by three madrassas: Sher-Dor, Tillya Kali and Ulugbek Madrassah. Gur-Emir Mausoleum – the magnificent dynastic tomb of Tamerlane, the prototype of the Humayun Mausoleum in Delhi and the Taj Mahal in Agra; Siab Bazaar is the largest market in Samarkand; Shahi-Zinda is an architectural complex consisting of 11 medieval mausoleums; Ulugbek Museum-Observatory – one of the most important observatories of the Middle Ages. A huge fragment of a sextant is kept in the basement.

Samarkand – Gijduvan – Bukhara (280 km, 4.5 hours). Bukhara (excursion).

08:00 – Transfer to Gijduvan. Visit to the Narzulaev family, hereditary potters. Inspection of the Gijduvan pottery school, the process of making pottery, firing and painting.
Lunch at the potter’s house. Tasting the famous Gijduvan kebab.
Transfer to Bukhara, another ancient capital of Uzbekistan. In the Middle Ages, Bukhara was one of the political, cultural and religious centers of the Middle East. More than 140 architectural monuments are perfectly preserved here, including magnificent madrassas, mosques, the famous Kalyan Tower – the symbol of the city, the Ark fortress, medieval baths and the Trade Dome. The historical center of Bukhara is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Excursions around Bukhara: The Lyabi-House ensemble is the most famous square of Bukhara with an artificial pond, around which are located the Kukeldash madrasah, Nadir Divanbegi madrasah, khanaka, the famous monument to Khoja Nasreddin and many cozy cafes; 16th century, indoors Visit the shopping area with its bazaar and folk craft workshops.

Bukhara (excursion).

Continuation of sightseeing in Bukhara: Mausoleum of the Samanid dynasty – a dynastic mausoleum that combines Sogdian and Islamic architectural traditions. An unusual mausoleum in the shape of a rectangular prism, associated with the biblical legend of Job the Wanderer; fortress of ancient Bukhara, “city within a city”, Ark fortress; the oldest building on Parade Square, the central symbol of Bukhara; the Poi-Kalyan complex, stunning in beauty and richly decorated with intricate Madrasah of Abdulaziz Khan, the strict and balanced madrasah of Ulugbek.
Palace of Sitorai Mohi Khosa, summer residence of the last emir of Bukhara; “Mecca of Central Asia”, a monument to the famous Eastern philosopher and Sufi Bahauddin Naqshbandi.
