You will not notice a smooth transition from urban civilization to magnificent mountain landscapes, untouched nature of Kyrgyzstan, its “pearl” – Lake Issyk-Kul, the traditional life of shepherds on the high-altitude lake Son-Kul.Son-Kul is located in a mountain valley at an altitude of 3000 m and is bounded on the north by the Son-Kul ridge, and on the south by the Moldo-To ridge. The lake is cold and quite deep, its maximum depth is 14 m. Son-Kul freezes around mid-November and thaws in mid-April. The surroundings of the lake are very beautiful, especially in summer. Son-Kul is surrounded by hills and snow-capped mountains of the Central Tien Shan. Due to the high altitude above sea level, there are no trees here, only low hard grasses and edelweiss. The lakes are not very large, but their shores are very different from each other. The southern and eastern shores are quite flat and flooded in places, while the northern and western shores are quite steep.
