Developing Kyrgyzstan is one of the best destinations for equestrian tours. The Telegraph’s expert Chris Moss says this ‘rugged country’ has long been favored for horseback riding. Horse riding tours teach the essence of the Kyrgyz way of life, much of it inherited and preserved from their nomadic ancestors. You’ll stay in yurts, taste authentic nomadic cuisine and ride horses around the beautiful Son-kul Lake in Naryn region.
Prerequisites: You must be able to get on and off a horse without assistance, walk in the saddle and trot on level ground in a relaxed and controlled manner.
Tour notes: A local guide and rider will look after you and your horse throughout the tour. Riding time is approximately 4-6 hours per day. The altitude varies between 800-2500m.
