Ala-Archa National Natural Park is located in the picturesque canyon of Ala-Archa, 40 km from Bishkek. It is a popular place for hiking, skiing and mountaineering, including trips to more than 20 glaciers. It covers an area of 200 km2 mainly forested valleys, waterfalls and rivers rich in trout. The altitude of the range varies from 1500m to the highest point 4895m, and the fauna of several rare species, especially the traditionally revered Juniper tree, is protected in the natural park. It has a very diverse fauna: mountain meadows are the habitat of wild goats, deer and marmots. Ala-arca National Park is one of the few places in the habitat of rare snow leopards.1 On the territory of the park, you can trek through the Ala-Archa Gorge along the mountain river to enjoy the views of the magnificent peaks of the Kyrgyz Alatau Ridge (Tian-shan Mountains).
