Kyrgyzstan Walking Tour-3 is a trip that combines interesting hikes in the mountains, excursions to sights and time spent on the beach. The walks explore the natural beauty of Kyrgyzstan in the Karakol region. You will visit Karakol Valley with Ala-Kul mountain lake and Golden Valley Altin-Arashan with its healing hot springs. You can also visit the historical sites of Bishkek, Karakol and Cholpon Ata and enjoy a full day at the Issyk-Kul resort.

Recommended equipment: coat, warm clothes, boots, sleeping bag, mat, backpack, flashlight, first aid kit, sunglasses.

Conditions The trekking route has no technical difficulties, but you need to be in shape as you will walk 3-6 hours a day and cross a mountain pass (3860m).

Tour itinerary

Bishkek 

After breakfast , Sights to visit: Oak Park, Ala-too Square, Philharmonic, Manas Statue, Victory Square. Osh bazaar. Sightseeing takes near 4-5 hours. Overnight at the hotel.

Bishkek – Karakol town. (400 km )

Morning travel to Karakol, south of Issyk-Kul (400 km). On the way, visit Burana Tower, which remains from the ancient city of Balasagin (XI-XIII).On the way, visit Skazka Gorge, a fantastic gorge with red mountains. You are guaranteed the best view of Issyk Kul Lake. To Karakol. Overnight in a guesthouse or hotel in Karakol.

Karakol town – Karakol Gorge – Sirota Camp (3-4 hours trek).

Meet trekking staff early in the morning and transfer buses to 4WD Russian military vehicles (UAZIK). The 4WD military truck then heads south along Karakol Gorge on an exciting mountain trail winding through fur tree forests and the stunning rock formations of Karakol Gorge. The next stage is a trek through the fur tree forest along the Ala Kul valley. Dinner and overnight in tents at Sirota Camp (2800 m altitude).

Sirota Camp – Ala Kul Lake – Keldike Valley (5-6 hour hike).

After breakfast, continue hiking in the valley, gradually gaining altitude. Ala-kol Lake is passed. Lunch at the lake. The lake is at an altitude of 3532 meters. The 2.3 km long and 700 meters wide lake is fed by melting glaciers and has a beautiful waterfall on the other side.

Today we cross the Ala Kul Pass (3860 meters above sea level) and descend to the Keldike Gorge. Dinner and overnight in tents in Keldike Valley (3200m).

Keldike Valley – Altyn-Alarshan (3-4 hour hike)

Morning hike to Altin Alarshan valley. ‘Altin Alarshan’ means ‘Golden Spring’ in Kyrgyz and is famous for its natural sulphur springs. Free time to rest or visit the hot springs. Dinner and overnight in tents (altitude 2600 m).

Altin Ararshan – Karakol

After breakfast meeting with the vehicle. Drive to Kara-kol on a magnificent mountain road.  Visit the wooden Russian Orthodox Church, Dungan Mosque and Prezhevalsky Museum. Overnight at the guesthouse in Kara-kol

Karakol – Bishkek

After breakfast long drive to Bishkek. In Cholpon Ata, visit the stone open-air museum, said to date from 500 BC to 100 AD and depicting wolves, long-horned mountain goats, goats, horses, snow leopards, sacrifices and hunting scenes. Overnight at the hotel.
