On this unique adventure, you will learn the basics of horseback riding and practice your new skills in the mountains of the Tien Shan Range. Make your own whip, ride in open fields and learn traditional Kyrgyz horse games. Stay with a local herder family and experience nomadic life. The guides are skilled riders and you will be immersed in a truly authentic Kyrgyz nomadic experience. This trek is ideal for those with little or no riding experience. Tour itinerary
Bishkek city – Kyzy-Oy Village (4 hours drive)
From Bishkek to Kyzyloy: Depart from Bishkek in the morning and drive about 200 kilometers south to the village of Kyzyloy. Located deep in the Suusamyr Valley, on the banks of the majestic Kokomeren River, Kyzyl-Oi is an idyllic mountain village full of friendly people and exquisite Guesthouse where you can stay and rest, ready for the adventure ahead.

Horseback riding: Kyzyl-Oy – Oy-Kaying (4-5 hours horseback riding)
From Kyzyl-Oy to Oy-Kaying: Today your journey begins outside the village of Kyzyl-Oi, where you will meet and familiarize yourself with your guide your horse. Initially it’s a gentle uphill climb through Oi-Kaying Jailoo on a very easy path. At 6 km you will pass a large rock with ancient Persian writings on it, an interesting sight for both archaeologists and history buffs. Then continue through Jailoo for about 15km, gradually climbing until you reach the campsite at just under 3000m, where you have views of the valley you just came from. You will camp near a local pastoral area, learn about Kyrgyz nomadic life, and taste local cuisine.

Horse trek: Oy-Kaying – Sary-Kol (4-5 hours horse trek)
On the third day of the itinerary, participants will embark on a horse trek from Oy-Kaying to SaryKol. This leg of the journey is expected to take four to five hours on horseback.
Embark on your ascent up the Oi Kaying Jailoo, gradually climbing until you reach the mountain pass at 3411m. Here, a breathtaking panoramic view of the valley awaits you, complete with a picturesque scene of horses, cattle, yurt settlements, and lush fir forests. As you make your descent from the pass, observe as the terrain around you shifts from high alpine to dense forest. Part ways with the main road and venture onto a smaller trail that meanders through the mountainside, winding its way through fir trees and babbling creeks. After a distance of approximately 20km from your starting point, you will find yourself settled on the tranquil shores of Sary-Kul, a magnificent lake enveloped by verdant greenery and tranquil forests.

Horse trek: SaryKol – Tegerek (4-5 hours horse trek)
On the fourth day of the journey, there will be a horse trek from SaryKol to Tegerek. The trek will take approximately four to five hours to complete. On this day of your horseback tour, you will be continuing from Sary-Kol to Tegerek. The itinerary follows a route through the mountain valley and entails crossing several rivers. While you will not be traversing any large passes, you will encounter numerous mountainous hills that offer a unique perspective of the nomadic landscape, with vast herds of cattle grazing on the pastures. Experience the nomadic way of life as you travel along the streets of their land, and hone your horseback riding skills. After ascending the final uphill climb of Kok-Kya, you will reach the Jailoo Tegerek where you will spend the night camping in the wild.

Horse trek: Tegerek – Kyzart pass (5-6 hours horse trek)
The journey from Tegerek proceeds towards the Kyzart Pass, crossing through vast open fields and gently undulating hills. Along the way, there will be a brief respite in the idyllic valley of Ok-Torkoy, where you can indulge in a delicious lunch at the local yurt camp. Once you are refreshed and rejuvenated, the tour to the Kyzart Pass will continue. Upon reaching the Kyzart Pass, transportation will be provided to the nearby village of Kyzart where you will spend the night in a comfortable local guesthouse. Take advantage of the warm bed and refreshing shower to recharge yourself for the upcoming adventures that await you the next morning.

Horse trek: Kyzart pass – Kilemche (4-5 hours horse trek)
After breakfast at Kizyart Village guesthouse, return to your guide group and continue your adventure. You arrive at the Kizyart Pass where your guide team welcomes you back and prepares everything for you. Therefore, your journey will continue on horseback, passing through Kyzylkia jayloo. Drive over the Chaar Alcha Pass (3061 m) into the Chaar Alcha Valley and enjoy a delicious lunch by the fast-flowing river while admiring the view of the 4400 m high Mount Baba Atta. After lunch, cross the river and follow the path over lush hills to Kilemche Jailoo. The name means “like a carpet” and this patch of grass covers the entire mountain range. Overnight in yurt camp.

Horseback riding: Kilemche – Tuz Ashuu (4-5 hours horseback riding)
After breakfast in Kilemche, morning climb to Jalgyz-Karagai pass (3400 m). Hike through the Songkol Mountains and into the lake basin. The rocky climb is spectacular and offers great views of Kilemche Prison. After lunch at Jaman Echki, head west along the lake shore to the yurts of Tuz-Ashuu. Upon arrival you will meet your homestay family of Kyrgyz shepherds. Local families provide food and a accommodation in yurts.

Horseback riding: Tuz Ashuu – TulparTash (4-5 hours horseback riding)
Today it will be a relatively simple and easy drive along the shore to the west of the lake. This is a great opportunity to test your riding skills in the flat, open valley of Soncol. Explore Jailoo and learn more about the Kyrgyz nomadic lifestyle. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to participate in Kyrgyzstan’s traditional horse racing events, which is a unique experience on this trip. Overnight at Tulpar-Tash yurt camp.

Horse trekking: Tulpartash – Kizart village – Bishkek (3-4 hrs drive).
Today we will conclude our trip. Departing from Turpartash, we will go from Son-kol to Kizart village via Uzbek pass. Once over the pass, a spectacular panorama of the Son-kol valley unfolds. After descending to the village and having lunch, we will transfer you back to Bishkek to the hotel.
