Tour itinerary

Astana – Arrival (Kazakhstan)

Arrive in Astana and be transferred to the hotel. Check-in is available from 14:00. Enjoy some free time. Overnight at the hotel.

Astana (Kazakhstan)

Start your day with breakfast. At 09:00, meet your guide and fellow travelers in the hotel lobby for a sightseeing tour of Kazakhstan’s capital. Begin by exploring the “Old Centre,” which was once home to merchants. Stroll along the Millennium Axis line, named after Kisho Kurokawa, the architect behind Astana’s overall design. Visit the Opera House and the Round Square with its many fountains. Continue the tour at Independence Square, where you’ll see the towering 91-meter-high snow-white Kazakh Eli stele, the Khazret Sultan Mosque, and the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation. Next, head to Nurzhol and Green Water boulevards, home to stunning skyscrapers with unique architectural designs. Take an elevator ride up to the Bayterek monument and enjoy panoramic views from the observation deck. Wrap up the morning with a visit to Khan-Shatyr, a major shopping and entertainment complex. Enjoy a delicious welcome lunch. Free time follows. Overnight at the hotel.

Astana – Almaty (Kazakhstan)

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Almaty. Once you arrive, begin a sightseeing tour of the city. Your morning highlights include a visit to Panfilov Park, Zenkov Cathedral, Republic Square, and the Central State Museum. A short drive (25 km) will take you to Chimbulak, where you can explore the ski resort and take a cable car ride to admire breathtaking views of the snow-capped Tian Shan Mountains. The final stop of the day will be the Sunkar Falcon Farm (closed on Mondays and Tuesdays), where you will witness a spectacular show featuring specially trained hawks—hunting with these majestic birds is a significant part of Kazakh heritage. Return to the hotel by 18:00. Free time. Overnight at the hotel.

Almaty – Charyn Canyon – Karakol (Kazakhstan/Kyrgyzstan)

After breakfast, at 08:00, meet your guide and driver in the hotel lobby. Begin your journey by leaving Almaty and heading towards Charyn Canyon (220 km, 3-4 hours). This stunning 154-meter-long canyon is located in eastern Kazakhstan, within the Charyn National Park. Along with awe-inspiring views of the canyon’s massive walls and multi-colored tower formations, the park also features an old ash-tree grove and the unique Castle Valley. The beauty of the canyon will make the long drive from Almaty worthwhile, leaving you with unforgettable memories of Kazakhstan’s natural wonders. Upon arrival at the canyon, enjoy some time for a picnic and rest, before walking along the canyon’s trails and soaking in the views. Afterward, continue the journey to the Kazakh-Kyrgyz border at Kegen (116 km), where you will meet your Kyrgyz driver and guide. Proceed to Karakol through the scenic Karkara Valley (110 km). Enjoy a warm dinner with an Uigur family, which will be accompanied by a Kyrgyz folk show, featuring national music and songs.

Karakol – Jety Oguz – Kochkor (Kyrgyzstan)

After breakfast, begin your day by visiting the Wooden Orthodox Church and the fascinating Dungan Mosque, a unique structure built in Chinese style. Following this, head towards the Jety-Oguz Gorge. Enjoy a short hike through the gorge, then continue your journey along the southern coast of Lake Issyk-Kul. On the way, stop at Bokonbaevo for a captivating eagle hunting demonstration. Proceed to Kochkor, where you’ll experience one of the most breathtaking views of Lake Issyk-Kul. End the day by having dinner with a local Kyrgyz family and spending the night with them.

Kochkor – Son-Kul (Kyrgyzstan)

Embark on a drive towards Son-Kul (120 km), a secluded mountain lake that sits at an impressive 3,016 meters above sea level, accessible via the Kalmak Ashu pass (3,400 meters above sea level). This pristine lake is located on a treeless plateau in the high mountains, where shepherds bring their flocks during the summer and set up yurts to live in. In this breathtaking area, you’ll encounter herds of livestock, countless yurts, and the unique sight of camels and edelweiss flowers. Your guide will take you through the traditional Kyrgyz way of life, showing you how local women prepare the Kyrgyz national drink, kymyz (mare’s milk). You may be invited to taste kymyz, along with traditional bread, dairy, and homemade jam. There will also be an opportunity for horse riding (optional, at an extra cost). Enjoy a delicious dinner and spend the night at a yurt camp.

Son-Kul – Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan)

After breakfast, depart at 09:00 for Bishkek (400 km). On the way, stop in Kochkor for a fascinating workshop where you’ll observe the traditional method of crafting Kyrgyz felt carpets. Following lunch, continue your journey towards Bishkek, with a visit to Burana Tower along the route. This ancient tower was part of the historical city of Balasagun, which thrived during the 11th to 13th centuries. Upon arrival in Bishkek, check in at the hotel for the evening.

Bishkek – Departure (Kyrgyzstan)

After breakfast, start your sightseeing tour of Bishkek at 09:00. During the tour, visit Oak Park, Ala-Too Square, the Philharmonic Hall, and the Statue of Manas. Continue exploring Victory Square, the Oriental market (Osh Bazaar), and the newly built mosque named after Mahmud Kashgari. After lunch, transfer to Bishkek Airport for your flight home. This marks the end of the Kazakhstan-Kyrgyzstan Group Tour.
