Son-kul Lake is a mountain lake located 3,000 m above sea level. The lake covers an area of 275 km² and has a maximum depth of 15 m.
Frozen more than half the year, the lake and its dry surroundings welcome nomadic sheep and flocks only during the warm season, usually from June to September.
Son-kul Lake is surrounded by mountains at an altitude of more than 4,000 meters. In spring the valley is greeted with various shades of green, in summer the valley is white with edelweiss flowers and in autumn it dries up with orange, yellow and red colors. The area is home to numerous bird species and mammals such as wolves, foxes, marmots and snow leopards.

Tour itinerary
Bishkek – Chon kemin (170 km drive)
From Bishkek drive to Ala-Archa gorge. Hiking and walking in beautiful gorge. After visit historical tower Burana. Drive to Chon-Kemin. Stay overnight in guest house.
Lunch on the way. Dinner in guest house

Chon-Kemin – Son-Kul (2 nights) (190 km)
Son-kul Lake is surrounded by mountains at an altitude of more than 4,000 meters. In spring the valley is greeted with various shades of green, in summer the valley is white with edelweiss flowers and in autumn. In son-kul you can do horse riding. Stay in yurt. Feel how the silent sounds. Walk and hiking to the mountains and swim in lake if you wish. Because the weather in son-kul can be and change anytime from sunny to snowing in same day, highly recommended take worm close with you.

Son Kul – Bokonbaeva (250 km)
Visit bazaar and Souvenir shop in Kochkor city. Felt carpet workshop in Kochkor. lunch on the way to Bokonbaeva. Overnight in yurt camp with shower and near the beach of Issyk-kul lake. You can swim in lake . Eagle hunting demonstration. This is a traditional hunting method of the Kyrgyz people Dinner in yurt camp. Free evening time. Folk musicians optional for extra pay at diner time.

Bokonbaeva – Karakol (260 km)
After breakfast, visit Barskoon jayloo with beautiful nature, fairy tale canyon, Jety-Oguz jayloo .Sightseeing tour (1-1½ hours): visit the wooden Russian Orthodox Church, Dungan Mosque in Karakol.

Karakol – Bishkek (410 km)
Hot spring Keremet-Suu. Possible to swim in hot pools 1 hour. On the way visit the open-air museum of petroglyphs (dating back to 800 BC) in Cholpon – ata. Than drive to Bishkek. End of the tour
