Description
Mangystau is a breathtaking region in western Kazakhstan, known for its surreal landscapes, ancient history, and spiritual heritage. Often referred to as the “Kazakh Wild West,” it features vast deserts, dramatic canyons, white limestone mountains, and the famous Valley of Balls (Torysh) with its mysterious spherical rock formations. The region is also home to sacred underground mosques like Beket-Ata and Shakpak-Ata, attracting pilgrims and travelers alike.

Additionally, in the event of extreme weather conditions such as storms, heavy rain, or strong winds, the group may need to relocate from the camp to the nearest guesthouse for safety. Please note that accommodation costs in such cases will be at the travelers’ expense.

Tour itinerary
Pickup from Hotel/Airport – Shakpak Ata – Torysh – Kokala – Sherkala – Airakty

8:00 AM: Pickup from Airport or from your hotel
1st: Shakpak Ata Underground Mosque
- Visit Shakpak Ata, a centuries-old underground mosque carved into the cliffs, revered as one of Mangystau’s sacred pilgrimage sites.
*For Summer season: Lunch at the Sartas Visitor Center by the seaside, followed by 1 extra hour rest with refreshing cold drinks and Wi-Fi, before continuing the journey in cooler weather as midday temperatures can reach up to 45 °C.
Second Stop:Torysh – Valley of Balls
- Explore the mysterious ball-shaped rock formations, a geological wonder that sparks curiosity and amazement.
Third Stop: Kokala – Jurassic Clays
- Marvel at the colorful purple gorge and ancient geological formations at Kokala.
Fourth Stop: Sherkala Mount (panoramic view)
- Visit Sherkala, known as the “Sphinx of Mangystau,” with its unique yurt-shaped appearance.
Fifth Stop: Airakty – Valley of Castle-Shaped Mounts
- Walk through the castle-shaped mountains of Airakty and camp overnight under the stars in the dramatic desert landscape.

DAY 2: Airakty – Zhanaozen – Kyzylkup (Tiramisu) Canyon – Bokty Mount – Bozjyra Under Fangs Formation

- 1st stop: Zhanozen City
Lunch at the Adal cafe, Refuel and Market stop.

Head to Bokty Mountain, an isolated and fortress-like formation that rises dramatically from the steppe. The unique shape and colors make this a must-see stop for nature enthusiasts. - Camping: Bozjyra Under Fang Formations
Spend an unforgettable night camping beneath the towering Fangs, surrounded by silence and starry skies.Meal: Breakfast, Snack lunch, Dinner

1st stop: Bozjyra Middle Part:Upper view of Fang Formations
- Start your day with a visit to the famous Bozjyra Fangs Formation, where you can walk around these towering limestone formations that dominate the landscape. This is one of the most recognizable natural landmarks in Mangystau.
2nd stop: Mars Panorama
- Admire Bozjyra’s otherworldly cliffs that look like the surface of a distant planet from above.
3rd stop: Dragon Crest
- Dragon Crest – a jagged limestone ridge of Bozjyra that resembles the spine of a mythical dragon, the perfect place to end the day with unforgettable views before returning to home.
Final destination: Return to Aktau
- After a day of exploration, drive back to Aktau City to conclude your journey.
