OSAGO (Compulsory Auto Civil Liability Insurance) is a type of insurance designed to protect both vehicle owners and individuals affected by road accidents.
Main Purpose of OSAGO:
Covers damage caused to third parties, paid by the insurance company instead of the vehicle owner.
Ensures compensation for the affected party, regardless of the financial situation of the at-fault driver.
Explanation of Insurance Terms
Definitions of key insurance concepts are provided in Article 1 of the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On Compulsory Civil Liability Insurance of Motor Vehicle Owners” dated July 24, 2015, No. 192.
Fines for Lack of OSAGO
According to Article 184 of the Code of the Kyrgyz Republic on Offenses dated October 28, 2021, No. 128, driving a vehicle without a valid insurance contract results in a fine of 3,000 KGS (30 calculation indicators).
It is important to note that having voluntary insurance does not exempt a vehicle owner from the obligation to obtain OSAGO.
Types of Vehicle Insurance
Vehicle owners can benefit from various types of insurance:
KASKO – covers damage to the insured vehicle.
DSAGO – voluntary insurance extending liability limits towards third parties.
OSAGO – compulsory insurance providing compensation to affected parties.
