Yurt camp at Darwaza

Yurt camp at Darwaza is located about 300 meters from the crater. It has two living areas for 12 and 5 yurts. Yurts have wood-burning stoves and can accommodate up to 4 people.
Toilets (6) and the shower (3) are located near the each living area. All yurts are heated with wood-burning stoves and use small solar panels to provide a modest but sufficient electricity supply

The camp has an outdoor restaurant for 100 seats with reed canopies, trestles, wide wooden tables, and an indoor dining room, where our guests can eat in case of bad weather. We have all the facilities for organizing of cooking master classes in our yurt camp (upon request), including cooking of traditional dishes in tandoor.

In addition, guests of the yurt camp can see the horse stables (and even ride a horse on request), a paddock with sheep and camels, as well as a small vegetable garden where various vegetables and even melons are grown!
If you want to get the most out of a trip to the gas crater, enjoy its flames, and spend the night in the desert – our yurt camp is perfect for realizing your desires!

Yurts are decorated with carpets and felt (koshma), which were purchased from the neighboring village. This is our goal to help local villagers to have a job and increase their earnings and income.
The yurts are equipped with beds and mattresses, warm blankets, pillows, bed sheets, towels and coverlets made by lady staff of our Company in this period of low tourism season
Ladies are also making dresses, bags and chair cushions by using leftover materials that they have collected instead of discarding them
We are trying to cut down on the use of small plastic water bottles by our clients and have a water-bottle filling equipment in our camp. We suggest our clients to fill in their small reusable bottles with water from these 20 L canisters.
We cut down on the use of straws, disposable plastic serving-ware, and paper plates at our yurt camp
We have replaced single portions of cereal, yogurt, and jam for our breakfast with big reusable containers to further reduce the carbon foot prints.
We shop food products for yurt camp from nearby growers and providers. In this way we support local farmers while also reducing the carbon emissions caused by transportation the food from a distance. Menu selection incorporates sustainable offerings, including vegetarian options and other preferences.

Waste water
On the territory of our camping we have 6 western style flush toilets. Water for flushing comes from big cisterns located nearby the toilets. Wastewater is diverted by a special sewerage system and to be collected in a tank, located about 500 m from the campsite. Here wastewater is treated before being used for irrigation. We do not use fresh potable water for toilets, but process water with insignificant salt content.
Potable water will be used for hand washing, taking shower, cooking and dishwashing. This to be delivered several times a week by water carter.
We always encourage our guests to be responsible about water usage.
