Turkmenistan is strengthening its participation in the international tourism space, paying special attention to expanding cooperation in this strategically important area. This is stated in the review of the Turkmen State News Agency (TDH), which emphasizes the country’s active participation in a number of international forums and conferences dedicated to the development of tourism.
A striking example was the International Conference “Main Directions and Potential for Tourism Development in Turkmenistan”, held on March 27. The participants of the event discussed the prospects for tourism in the country, presented the existing potential, including cultural heritage, unique natural sites and modern infrastructure projects, such as the Avaza tourist zone on the Caspian coast.
An integral part of the Turkmen tourism brand remains its rich historical and cultural heritage. Architectural monuments, archaeological excavations and unique artifacts preserved from ancient times allow Turkmenistan to confidently declare itself in the world tourism arena.
An important event in this context was the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Ancient Fortress Amul: Keeper of the Secrets of the Past”, held on April 26. The reason was the inclusion of the site in the transnational route “The Great Silk Road: Zarafshan-Karakum Corridor”, which was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The conference brought together specialists in the field of archeology, history and cultural diplomacy. The issues of conducting further research, protecting the monument and popularizing the unique heritage of Amul in the international arena were discussed.
