Expansion of Tourist Infrastructure in Kyrgyzstan: 40 New Bases Planned for 2025
Kyrgyzstan is set to significantly expand its tourism infrastructure in 2025 with the planned opening of 40 new tourist bases. This was announced by First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Daniyar Amangeldiev during a working meeting on tourism development.
Tourism, he emphasized, is a key driver of economic growth and job creation. Regional administrations have identified 156 potential locations for new tourism facilities, with the highest numbers proposed in Issyk-Kul (40) and Naryn (34) regions. Additional sites have been suggested in Jalal-Abad (29), Osh (23), Chui (13), Talas (10), and Batken (7) regions. Amangeldiev highlighted the importance of assessing the commercial potential of these locations, engaging with local communities and investors, and ensuring quality service, safety, and the development of unique travel routes.
One concrete step forward was the opening of a new Tourist Service Center (TSC) in the town of Balykchy, a strategic gateway to the Issyk-Kul region. According to the Tourism Development Support Fund, the center will serve as an important hub for travelers heading to popular resorts and ski destinations. It offers a variety of services including information support, a rest area, souvenir mini-market, restrooms, parking, and electric vehicle charging stations.
Similar centers are being established in other key villages around Issyk-Kul — such as Tyup, Teploklyuchenka, Tosor, and Bokonbaevo — further enhancing the region’s appeal and contributing to local job creation.
Kyrgyzstan continues to attract both domestic and international tourists, offering diverse accommodation options ranging from modern hotels and guesthouses to traditional yurt camps. These authentic stays provide an immersive cultural experience, allowing visitors to enjoy the natural beauty of the country while connecting with its nomadic heritage. With ongoing investments in infrastructure, the country is steadily becoming one of Central Asia’s most promising travel destinations.
